Inspired by the work created during the Floating Islands project,
Archipelago is a study of islands as collective units. The goal of the project is to form coherent links and
analyse diversities between islands, and to apply this to observations on society.
Islands are separated forms adrift from one another. In the Floating Islands project the
study moved to the idea of individuals as islands, separated from one another in their own consciousness.
In Archipelago this idea is brought together to form a more tangible concept of society as made up of individuals,
but all interconnected, by sea or by sky, by conversation or by communication.
This project was part-funded by funded by Sligo Arts Office and took
place in The Nes International Artist Residency, Skagastrond, Iceland.
